Obituary
Anne Frances McHenry passed away peacefully on Sunday, June18th at Mount Pleasant, Ontario in her 86th year.
Born in Trenton, Ontario, her parents James and Emma McHenry raised Anne and her five siblings John, Donald, Margaret, Janet and Patricia with a strong faith, a commitment to family and a sense of humour.
After high school Anne took Holy Orders and joined The Sisters of St. Joseph. While a novice she found her true vocation as an educator and counselor. She attended Western and the University of Toronto to further her teaching education and spent 30 years with the Northumberland Separate School Board. Her students remember Miss. McHenry as patient, kind and a task-master who helped them learn discipline and confidence. Anne enjoyed both school life and social times with her colleagues. Skiing, summer adventures and trips abroad with her teaching friends were favorite memories she often talked about.
When she retired her passion was golf. She played at every opportunity often with her sister Janet and life-long friend Marlene Murphy.
Anne was devoted to her family. She is survived by her sister Margaret Stewart, her nieces and nephews, Cindy Harrison, Steven Truax, Tammy O’Neill, Kelly O’Neill, Kevin Stewart, Kendall Stewart and Kristan Stewart. Anne was always there to celebrate milestones and achievements and to reach out with encouragement and help when times were tough.
Living her faith and being of service to her church gave Anne strength and comfort through the years and she will be remembered for her generosity, wisdom and wit.
The family wishes to acknowledge the team at Hardy Terrace for their compassionate care with a special thank you to Dr. Abbott, Kailie and Stacey. Thank you also to Bill and Erma Wallace and Marlene Murphy for their support and prayers. The family will receive friends at the Weaver West location 170 Dundas Street, Trenton on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Peters Catholic Church, 140 Dundas Street, Trenton at 11:00 am. Interment at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
