Obituary
Anne «Andy» Ypma entered into the safe arms of Jesus, his Saviour while surrounded by his loving family on September 4, 2023. Andy was born on February 20, 1935 in Wieringen, Netherlands to Andries and Sijmentje Ypma (nee van der Meer). His family immigrated to Prince Edward County, Canada in 1947. On June 5, 1964, Andy married the love of his life and best friend, Hanna Berendina «Dina» (nee Huiskamp). Together, they shared the blessings of 59 years of marriage and the joy of their children Andre Ypma (Julia) and Lisa Moran (Mark). Andy «Opa» cherished and treasured the time spent together with his loving grandsons Andrew and Lucas Moran. He will be remembered by his brothers Elco Ypma (Carole), Arko Ypma (Lorraine) and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his siblings Henry Ypma (Audrey) and Tena Magrie (Aaldert).
Andy will be remembered for his trust in the Lord and the values of faithfulness, resiliency, compassion, strong work ethic, and humor which he strived to show throughout his life. He served as a member of the Trenton Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church as an Elder in Council and a Board Member on their Committee of Administration. He also volunteered at the Trenton Bibles for Mission, Treasure Chest, Foodbank and in causes supporting Christian Education and service locally and abroad. Andy left a legacy of the importance of following the Lord and trying to live a life that reflected this for his children and grandchildren.
Andy spent most of his career as a highly skilled autobody refinisher. In later years, he also was a professional transport and school bus driver. Once retired, he was able to devote more quality time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed playing and talking with his two grandchildren, gardening, kayaking, and renovating his home.
Visitation will be held at the Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church, Trenton on Monday, September 11, 2023 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am, followed by a Celebration of Life Service and luncheon. Private family interment at Carrying Place Cemetery will take place at a later date. If desired, memorial donations to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) or the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of Andy would be appreciated by the family.
