Annabell earned her teaching certification from Stratford Teacher’s College and started teaching at the age of 17. Following her marriage, she and John started a dairy operation which she continued to run for many years with her son Calvin, after John’s unexpected death. Annabell was devoted to municipal government and volunteer work. She served 29 years in elected office in Downie Township / Perth South. She was a trail blazer, and a woman of principle. She was the first woman Councillor, first woman Deputy Reeve and first woman Reeve, culminating her career as Warden of Perth County in 2003. She was a woman of faith and an Elder in her church.
