Anna Therese Gris

November 18, 2024
Surrounded by the love of her family, Anna passed peacefully into God’s loving arms on November 18th, 2024, at the age of 82. She has been reunited with her parents, Nicola and Lucia Strever and brother Joseph. Anna is survived by Otto, her best friend and adoring and devoted husband of 57 years. She will live on in the hearts and lives of her children Paul (Christine), Andrea (Sam) and Mark (Laura). Her love knew no limits for her grandchildren Megan, Noah, Lauren, Evangeline, Nathaniel and Aaralynn, who will miss her beyond measure. Anna leaves behind her sisters Grace (Arrigo Gris) and Julie Strever (Louie Ventresca) and family members who loved her dearly. Born in Vasto, Italy, Anna immigrated to Canada at the age of 8 with her family and lived a life of hard work, determination, courage and faith. She was a graduate of Cathedral Girls High School and pursued her education at the University of Toronto where she earned two degrees, followed by over 30 years of work at Mohawk College teaching English as a Second Language to new Canadians.
Anna found pleasure and prided herself on her talents for knitting and sewing and was able to share these gifts with those she loved. Her love of gardening flourished alongside Otto, who together garnered Trillium Awards for their property for 15 years. Anna traveled the world with Otto, experiencing adventures and gathering memories with family and friends. Anna cherished her friendships, and she would wish that the memories of your times together live on.
Special thanks to Michelle, Olivia and sister-in-law Lucy Gris for their unwavering support for Otto in caring for Anna, and to Dr. Black, and the ICU team at the Hamilton General Hospital for their compassion during Anna’s final days.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Rd., Hamilton from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 22 at St. Ann’s Church, 11 Wilson St., Ancaster, at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetary.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be greatly appreciated.
Though you are gone, the love you gave remains, a beautiful reminder of your presence in our lives.
