Anna Marie Oehring of Walkerton passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Walkerton, at the age of 91. Loving mother of Jim (Kim), Ruth Ditner (Ron Dickson), Doug (Teresa), and Linda Munro. Cherished grandmother of 8 and great-grandmother of 7. She will be missed by her siblings Florence Fischer, Eugene Beitz (Edna), Lorraine Schnurr, Jerry Beitz (Janet Pratt), sisters-in-law Jean Beitz, Rose Beitz, Diane Beitz, Mary Marquardt, the Oehring Family, and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her husband Bill Oehring (2016), grandson Jeremy Oehring (2006), sons-in-law Eugene Ditner (1983) and Larry Munro (2021), siblings George Beitz, Clarence Beitz (Nora), Harvey Beitz (Caroline), Catherine Grubb (Lorne), David Beitz, Melvin Beitz, Lorne Beitz, Theresa Huber (Harvey), in-laws Bill Fischer, Lloyd Schnurr, Joe Oehring, Andy Oehring (Doris), Joe Clancy (Frances), Roy Gilbert (Rita), Wilbur Benninger (Irene), Harold Marquardt, Alex Hehn, parents Anthony and Johanna (Hehn) Beitz, and parents-in-law Alexander and Mary (nee Diebold) Oehring.
Anna along with her husband Bill, of 64 years, farmed on the South Line of Brant Township. During the 1980’s and into the early 2000’s Anna catered numerous weddings, auction sales, Grey Bruce Farmer’s Week, and other events. Anna was an active member of South Line Women’s Institute, Catholic Women’s League, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, and the Walkerton Agricultural Society. Anna loved to volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society, Children’s Aid Society, Brucelea Haven, Habitat for Humanity, Second Hand Rose Shop and Bloor Donor Clinics. In 2006, Anna was nominated for Brockton’s Citizen of the Year. In 2008, Anna received Municipality of Brockton’s “Senior of the Year” Award, and in 2023 received The Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies 50 years of service award.
While we mourn Moms passing, we also celebrate the joy she brought into our lives. She taught us to work hard, be adventurous and be kind. Mom loved playing cards and working on puzzles. Her fun-loving spirit and witty personality will be missed.
Friends and relatives are invited to visitation from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Cameron’s in Walkerton. Knights of Columbus Rosary at 2:45 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 28, 2024, at Sacred Heart Church, Walkerton. Fr. Jeff Oehring officiating. Reception at Sacred Heart Church to follow
Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Walkerton.
