With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Ann Elizabeth Little Kristoffy, on August 17, 2023. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and wonderful memories.
Ann is survived by her husband Nick, to whom she was married for 55 years, and a soulmate for 57. She was a loving mother to John (Laura), Jane (Tom Dea), and Paul. Ann cherished her role as Grandma, and every moment spent with her grandchildren: Jack, Jeff, and Lindsay Kristoffy, and Caitlin and Connor Starr. She was a doting aunt to Peter, Carla, and Sylvia Bethlenfalvy, Katie Roland, and Pete Little. Ann is survived by her sister-in-law, Ester Bethlenfalvy and her husband Nick, and fondly remembered by Anne Wigle.
Born in Toronto, Ann was the daughter of the late Reginald Jack Little and Elizabeth McCleary. She is survived by her brother Paul F. Little, whom she adored.
Ann spent her life in Toronto’s west-end, steps away from the Humber River. As a young woman, she worked as a dental nurse. While raising her children, Ann gave her heart and time to the kids’ school, the cottage association, street parties, and many committees at Kingsway-Lambton United Church. She brought people together in all of her endeavours. Later, Ann continued to give back when she worked at CCAS.
In recent years, Ann found happiness in her favourite place: her condo near the Old Mill. There, with her dog under foot, she enjoyed long phone conversations with girlfriends, reading, doing Sudoku, puzzles, and games, and indulging in her passion of online bridge with friends. A competitive player in several social bridge groups and leagues, Ann’s clever moves left her opponents bewildered. She cultivated countless friendships that stretched far and wide, from spending her summers at the cottage, and her winters in Florida. But, nothing brought her greater joy than spending quality time with her family, and hearing about their daily adventures.
Ann’s down-to-earth presence had an extraordinary impact on everyone she encountered. Her infectious smile, twinkling eyes, and genuine warmth brightened every room she entered. She possessed an innate ability to make people feel valued and seen, and her attentive listening ear brought comfort to all. She had an uncanny knack of disarming people: before they knew it, and without her intending, strangers and friends would reveal their secrets to her. She was wise, gentle, and so fun. She had such a spark. Ann was a trusted confidante and source of no-nonsense advice for her loved ones. Her ability to make people feel good about themselves was her most special gift.
Our loss is Heaven’s gain.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 28, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St W, Toronto.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
