A strong and
independent woman, who lived her life with compassion and grace went
peacefully to her eternal home on April 12,
2023.
Anastasia
Marie Delorey was born December 4, 1946, to the late Alfred and
Beatrice (Dadeau) Delorey of Monastery. She was a faithful woman who
attended St. Peter’s Parish,
Tracadie.
Anna studied
to become a nurse and spent her career working in various nursing
capacities in Alberta and Nova Scotia. Anna’s work
ethic coupled with her empathetic nature made her a capable and caring
nurse. She made use of those same qualities to lovingly care
for her parents when they needed her support. After her
retirement, Anna continued to care for those who were unwell or alone;
she visited regularly and rarely without a care package.
Always willing to give of herself, Anna was well loved and highly
regarded in her community.
Anna had an
adventurous spirit and a passion for travel. Her desire to explore,
took her to various destinations, she thoroughly enjoyed these trips
and the friends who accompanied her. Some of her favorite adventures
were with Kenneth and Dee Dee, they were the three traveling
amigos. Whether it be on vacations to other
countries or a local day trip, Anna experienced and actively loved
life.
Anna was an
immaculate housekeeper, and her home was always a warm and welcoming
place for friends and family to visit. She kept a beautiful
yard and working around her apple trees and flower gardens brought her
an abundance of satisfaction. She loved to pick berries and
a leaf or stem would never be found in her bowl. Skilled at
handywork, she knit countless sweaters for her family through the
years.
Anna adored
her family. Living in her childhood home, Anna’s
family naturally gravitated to her and «home». She
made every holiday special for family and friends. She was a
caring and attentive sister and Aunt. Anna shared
a beautiful bond with her niece and best friend, Zelda.
They were kindred spirits who were joined at the
hip, and their relationship was like no other; they were Mother and
Daughter, Sisters and Best Friends all rolled into one. They
could fill the most ordinary days with antics and laughter.
When they were together there would always be a stop at a picnic park
on the itinerary. When Zelda and David welcomed their
daughter Anika to this world, Anna was overjoyed. Anna
enjoyed endless moments with Anika as she grew from a lively toddler
to a beautiful young adult. Anna was ever thankful for
having Anika to love, and it was apparent to anyone who witnessed them
together that they genuinely adored each other. Anna lovingly referred
to Anika as «My girl.»
Anna was
fortunate to have a loving partner in Doug. Anna and Doug
were a well-matched pair who brought happiness to each
other’s lives for many years. Anna provided a good
home to many pets through the years, and they enriched her life as she
lovingly cared for them.
Anna will be
sadly missed by her loving partner, Doug MacInnis; her brothers,
Winston (Violet) and Michael (Mary); her adored niece, Zelda (David);
her girl, Anika; and many nieces and
nephews.
Predeceased
by her sisters, Mildred and Elizabeth; and brothers-in-law, Robert
Gibson and Raymond Brow.
Cremation has
taken place, and a funeral Mass will be held Tuesday in St.
Peter’s Church, Tracadie, with Fr. John Barry
presiding. Burial in the parish
cemetery.
Family

to a charity of your choice.
