Amir Chand Parshad, age 96, went to be with the Lord on April 5, 2024. Amir was born November 9, 1927 in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh, India and was married to his beloved wife Roseline (Dass) on December 7, 1954 (predeceased Jan 8 th 2021).
Amir’s life was one that was dedicated in service to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
He authored several books over the past two decades, the last in 2022 at the age of 94 and has also published many Christian articles. Amir’s example of Christ-like love was evident in his life. He had a special way of engaging, encouraging and loving people like Jesus and sharing God’s love.
He was a beacon of spiritual strength for his family which totals in excess of forty members and generously expressed his love to them.
Amir started his career with the Indian government early in his 20’s and quickly joined the ranks of the Indian Foreign Services where he was stationed in Bangladesh and then posted to Canada. Looking for stability for their one child and soon to be two, they decided to immigrate to Canada. In order to do that, they had to travel back to India to resign his post. Arriving back in Canada, Amir worked in various trades in order to bring his family to Canada. He then joined the Government of Canada, National Research Council and later Statistics Canada (beginning it’s first Bible study) until he retired at the of age 60. It was then that he had time to pursue his passion for ministry.
Amir graduated from the Canada Christian College and then was ordained by the Evangelical Church Alliance Ministerial Fellowship of Canada. He was gifted with many talents including the ability to play many instruments by ear and an incredible memory for details and numbers.
Amir’s family will greatly miss the pillar of spiritual strength, love and encouragement he has been for them over the many decades.
We rest in the knowledge that he has lived a life well served for his Heavenly Father and is rejoicing in Heaven with the angels and his sweetheart Roseline Parshad, family and friends who have passed on.
Amir Chand is survived by his four children, Vinita Baker (Harry), David Parshad (Lois), Shirin Parshad-Gorman (Brett), and Noel Christopher Parshad (Heather), 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He is also survived by three siblings: Shirin Solomon (101 years), Sushil Dunichand 89 years (Esther), Navin Dunichand 84years (Venus), predeceased by sisters Kamni Robinson (Cyril), Parvin Goldsmith (Edwin) and Armiti Robinson (Theo), and all their children and families whom he loved.
The funeral service will be held at Capital City Church, 1123 Old Montreal Road, Ottawa on Friday, April 12, 2024 at 10am. The family will receive condolences at the church from 9am until the service time. A reception will be held at the church following the funeral service. Interment will be held at Beechwood cemetery.
