In loving memory of Ambrosina Raso (nee Rocca), 87 years, who passed away Friday June 28, 2024, at the Maison McCulloch Hospice with her children by her side.
Beloved wife of Antonio Raso predeceased in 2013. Loving mother of Natalina (predeceased 2014), Maria, and Franco (Karleen). Cherished nonna of Vincenzo and Alessandra. Predeceased by her family in Italy, parents Filippo and Rosaria (nee Folino) Rocca , brother Pasqualino, and sister Natalina. Dear sister of Giovanna of Italy. She will be sadly missed by many cousins, family, and friends in Canada and Italy.
Ambrosina married Antonio in Sambiase, Italy and in 1968 joined him in Sudbury with their two young daughters. She loved to cook delicious Italian meals for her family, especially her grandchildren. She was very proud of her vegetable garden and in summer you would usually find her outside tending to her bountiful tomatoes and beans, which she gladly shared with neighbours. In early September she would be making tomato sauce using her garden tomatoes and preserving the harvest from her garden for winter.
The family wishes to thank the caring nurses and PSWs at HSN’s 4N palliative care floor and the compassionate staff at the Sudbury hospice that made her as comfortable as possible in her final days.
Ambrosina will be buried alongside her husband Antonio and daughter Natalina at the Civic Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Maison McCulloch Hospice, Northern Cancer Centre, or Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
Funeral visitation will be held at the Lougheed Funeral Home, 252 Regent St, Sudbury where friends may gather from 5-8pm on Wednesday July 3. Funeral mass will be held at St Patrick’s Church, 39 Walford Road, Sudbury on Thursday July 4, 2024, at 10:30am. Interment will be at the Civic Memorial Mausoleum, 365 Second Avenue North following the mass.
