It is with heavy hearts the family of Amber Christina Keirstead of Cumberland Bay, NB announces her passing at the Hospice House Fredericton, on October 19, 2024 at the age of 70 years.
Born in Sus on April 30, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Beatrice (Fairweather) Kierstead. She was predeceased by son, Jordan Hovey; parents, brother David, one brother-in-law, Frank Jones; two nephews: John Newman-Jones, Frank Edward Jones and by one grand-niece, Jessica Newman Jones.
She is survived by her loving and caring husband Wendell Hansen and his daughter Shelley (Allan), Son Stephen (Andrea), five grandchildren; six sisters, Judy Jones, Connie Newman-Jones, Mavis Carpenter (Eldon), Sharon McCumber (John), Karen Morton (Harold) and Dawn Kierstead; one brother, Gerry; several nieces and nephews and by multiple fur babies and special family members, Dan and Mike Mulligan.
Amber was a caregiver, running a special care home for many years and always looking after others. She enjoyed travelling, swimming, crafts, gardening, knitting, reading, puzzles and spending time with her family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 2, 2024 from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm at the Old School in Coles Island, NB (11314 Route 10, Coles Island, NB). For those who wish, donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society, SPCA or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
