It is with immeasurable sadness that we, the family,
announce the death of Amanda Ngo, loving wife of Sieu Ngo, of
Bathurst, which occurred accidentally the morning of Friday November
25, 2022, at the age of 37.
Born in Moncton, NB, she was the
cherished daughter of Paul and Janet (Butland) Smith of Edgett’s
Landing and the loving sister of Aaron Smith, of Albert
Mines.
In addition to her husband and
parents, Amanda is survived by her children Hunter, Camille and
Guillaume, all of Bathurst. She is further survived by several aunts,
uncles, cousins and countless friends. The sadness of her passing also
extends to her Mother-in-law, «Ba», Brothers-in-law Trac and
Hao and her sister-in-law Ha.
Amanda graduated from Caledonia
Regional High School. Amanda was interested in the military the moment
she heard the recruiters talk at her school and joined the reserves at
age 16. She started with 4AD Air Defense in Moncton and while there
had the rare opportunity to fly with the Snow Birds in Halifax. When
she moved to Bathurst to work at the Chaleur Regional Hospital she
transferred to the 2RNBR North Shore infantry division where she
stayed until she resigned in 2012.
Amanda moved to Bathurst in 2004 to
attend the University of New Brunswick’s School of Nursing
where she obtained her Bachelor of Nursing degree. With the love and
support of her husband and her children, Amanda returned to her
studies to obtain her Masters of Nursing through Athabasca University.
As a Nurse Practitioner, Amanda was a beloved member of the medical
community who served the community of Jacquet River with love,
compassion and understanding.
Amanda loved life and lived every day
to the fullest. She will be remembered as someone with a heart of gold
who went out of her way to help anyone in any way she could. Amanda
was fearless and possessed of a sense of adventure that took her all
over the world, always accompanied by her devoted husband. From
climbing to Mount Everest’s base camp, to deep sea diving
with stingrays in Hawaii, to riding camels through the Moroccan
desert, Amanda never shied away from a challenge. Amanda was the most
competitive person we knew and excelled at everything she put her mind
to.Through her most recent passion, she brought many friends to join
her at Spin North where she was an upbeat and energetic presence who
was often left unable to speak. Amanda was always training for her
next challenge or preparing for her next adventure. She brought so
much excitement and energy into everyone’s lives. Amanda
left everyone a better person for having met her.
Amanda is the example of what is
possible when you share the wonder, joy and love, this world has to
offer, with people in your life.
Donations can be made to The Making
Spirits Bright organization in memory of Amanda to support seniors in
the Belledune Area. These donations can be sent to
foundation.foundation@vitalitenb.ca before December 9,
2022.
Donations may also be made to the
Bathurst SPCA or a charity of the donor’s
choice.
THANK
YOU!
It is with the love of friends,
family, and the community we are surviving this difficult time. We
want everyone to know how thankful we are for all the love and support
we received during this unimaginable time. Most days it seems so
unreal and hard to comprehend but as the days go by, reality is
setting in.
Amanda was loved and will be missed by
so many people. A lot of hearts are broken at this
time.
Thank you just doesn’t seem
enough to express our gratitude. The overwhelming support and kindness
shown from our family, friends, neighbours and community has been
immeasurable and will never be forgotten.
While we could never begin to thank
each one individually, we wish to thank everyone who showed up with
their support, their kind words of comfort, and their heartfelt hugs.
A special thanks to everyone who went above and beyond to comfort us;
everyone who brought in food when cooking a meal never crossed our
mind. Thanks to every one who came from near and far to be with us and
share their love and support. Thanks to everyone who sent flowers,
cards, online condolences, phone calls, memorial donations in her
memory, and who had us in their thoughts and prayers during this very
difficult time.
Also a special thanks to Patrick from
Elhatton’s Funeral Home and Lisa from Albert County Funeral
Home for all your guidance.
All the stories and memories everyone
shared with us emphasized how amazing she was that she touched so many
people’s lives in so many ways; she will be greatly missed
and will live on in our hearts forever.
We also know that Amanda would not
want us to be sad, but to remember all the fun, goofy times and funny
stories, and have a good laugh. She was our ray of sunshine and
although she has left this world, we feel her presence every
day.
Again, thank you from Amanda’s
loving family,
Janet, Paul, Aaron, Sieu, Guillaume, Camille
and Hunter
