Muhic, Alojzij «Alex»:
Passed away on July 5, 2024 at Grand River Hospital at the age of 87.
Alex was the devoted husband of the late Betty, nee McMahon, (2007) and beloved father of Mary of Etobicoke, and George and his wife Rowena of Hamilton.
Alex was predeceased by his parents Jurij Muhic Sr. (1963) and Marija Muhic, nee Mravinec (2001).
Dear brother of the late Ana, the late Peter, the late Ivan (Danica), the late Jurij (Cvetka), Terezija Cerar (late Ludvik), the late Marija Sepic (late Nace) all of Slovenia, the late Bogomir (late Kathy), the late Monika Kocjan (Bogomir) of Waterloo, Angela Prilesnik (Jozef) and Frank (late Catherine) of Kitchener. Alex will also be missed by many nieces and nephews in Canada, Slovenia, and Croatia.
Brother-in-law of Edith Linseman (late Earl) of St. Clements, the late Margaret Petzhold (late Howard), the late Joey McMahon, and the late Ester McMahon.
Alex was born in Nova Lipa, Slovenia in 1936 and came to Canada in 1960. He was a resident of Kitchener, and later of Elora, where he was a member of the congregation of St. Mary’s Immaculate Catholic Church. Alex was an owner of MWM Construction and Vermu Contracting from 1967 until 2003, and was proud of his 36-year legacy as an employer, while helping to develop the KW region. Alex was a long-time and active member of the Slovenian Club Sava, where he generously contributed his time and skills toward their renovations.
Alex’s family will receive relatives and friends from 4:00p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Friday July 12th at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Funeral Mass will take place at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church on Saturday July 13, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., with a reception to follow in the church hall. Interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Breslau.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Waterloo Wellington or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
