Obituary
Alma Bunce (nee Dale) of Kitchener passed away at Freeport Hospital Kitchener on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at the age of 97. Dear daughter of the late Gladys and Ernest Dale. Beloved wife of the late Denis Bunce. Loving mother of John, Phil (wife Nancy), Gillian (husband Keith), and Ann (husband Robert). Cherished by her grandchildren Sean, Paul, Matt, Christopher, Emily and Nicholas and her great grandchildren. Dear sister of Donald predeceased, Eileen predeceased and Sandra. Also, will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, and those many friendships she developed in Canada from Strabane to Kitchener.
Alma was born in England in the County of Staffordshire, and at 18 worked for the war effort in the Steelworks. In 1947 she married the love of her life who happened to be the boy next door.
In May 1957 they moved to Canada with three children in tow and settled in the small village of Strabane. Ann, the youngest, was born while in Strabane and Alma had many long-time friends from that little town.
She was very active in the community including the church choir, and Women’s institute to name a few. She was a very good cook and well known for her scones.
In her later years she lived in Kitchener and for the last 9 years at Westhill Retirement Residence and was active in the knitting club, horse racing, book club and anything social.
Cremation has taken place and she will lay to rest beside Denis (the boy from next door) in the little town of Strabane.
