Janzen, Allen – August 1, 1941 – June 19, 2023
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Allen (Al) Howard Janzen of Milton, Ontario at the age of 81 after a brief illness.
Al was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, the youngest son of Peter and Edna Janzen. After graduating high school in Swift Current, Al went to the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon where he obtained a degree in civil engineering. With his degree in hand, he moved east to Hamilton, obtained his P.Eng., and later a masters degree from the University of Waterloo. For most of his career, he worked for Atomic Energy of Canada.
Although he came east for work, it is also where he met the love of his life, Barbara (Barb) May Janzen (nee. Patterson), whom he married in 1966. Together, they set the example of a happy marriage, celebrating 55 wonderful years of marriage together until Barb’s passing in 2021.
Al was a great dad and role model to his two sons, Bradley (Wendy) and Craig (Kristen), who deeply admired and loved him, as did his daughters-in-law. He was also proud of his grandchildren: Jacob, Fiona, Ryan and Courtney.
Al will be remembered as a caring, patient, and intelligent man who rarely complained and would have done anything for his family. He enjoyed many things: reading extensively; cheering on the Leafs and the Blue Jays; engaging in a good political discussion; and spoiling Daisey (his dog). Al will also be remembered for his love of anything chocolate.
A special thanks must be extended to his friends and the staff at Seasons who made him feel at home in this community. We are also grateful for the compassionate care provided by the staff at the Milton District Hospital in his final days.
Although we will miss him terribly, he is once again with Barb.

(905) 878-4452 on Friday, June 23, 2023 from 12:00 to 1:00 pm.
Funeral Service will be held on June 23, 2023 at 1:00 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment to take place at Evergreen Cemetery. All are welcome back to the Funeral Home for a reception after the interment.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Milton District Hospital Foundation.
