It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Allan Thomas Bokenfohr, at the age of 77.
Allan leaves behind his wife, Cathy, his children Steven Bokenfohr and Cyndi (Todd) French; his beloved grandchildren Dustin (Angel) Bokenfohr, Melissa (Andrew) Foulston, Thomas (Rayan) Bokenfohr, Hunter French and Carter French; his great grandchildren Connor, Sophia, Robert, Jaymie, Savannah, Jaxon, Ryker and Ettayah; Sister Marlene Selvage as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Allan was preceded in death by both parents, Clem and Louise Bokenfohr, brother Wesley Bokenfohr and sister Irene McKee.
Allan was born June 25, 1946, at the Royal Alex Hospital in Edmonton, he was the 3rd of 4 children born to Clem and Louise Bokenfohr. He lived on the family farm in St. Albert until the age of 17, when he then moved to Edmonton to work at Swifts Canada.
He met his wife, Cathy, and they married July 29, 1967. Allan and Cathy moved with their family to Fort McMurray in 1973. Allan began working as a Heavy Equipment operator for G.C.O.S (Suncor) and later moved up to Supervisor where he worked until his early retirement from mining in 1993.
Allan had always dreamed of owning his own farm, so in 1993 they left Fort McMurray, and he purchased a farm in Mirror, Alberta where he raised purebred Simmental cattle until retiring from farming and moved into town in 2016.
In 2022 Allan moved to Hinton to be closer to his daughter. He made many friends at Pine Valley Lodge where he resided and enjoyed participating in many of the Lodge activities and outings. He even made a craft or two. Allan was often hard to find when you would go for a visit as he was always out and about visiting with other lodge residents.
Allan enjoyed fishing, hunting and working on old vehicles. In his early years he spent much of his time “tinkering” in his garage. He loved having company and would welcome any visitor that stopped in for a coffee.
His children and grandchildren meant the world to him and when he wasn’t working you could find him building train sets or model cars, cheering from the stands at sports events and even attending a girl guides/boy scouts meeting here and there.
Allan’s happy smile would light up any room and his generosity and love touched many hearts. He will be greatly missed.
A service will be held at Our Lady of the Foothills Catholic Church, 124 Tamarack Ave, Hinton, Alberta on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 @ 1:00pm.
