Allan G. «Snib» Weatherby passed away peacefully at
the Charlotte County Hospital on Saturday, April 22, 2023. Allan was
born in St. Stephen on October 14, 1950, the second child and first
son of Mona (McShane) and Melvin Weatherby.
Allan was raised in Milltown and he graduated from St.
Stephen High School in 1969. He attended Moncton Tech for a
year and then moved on to Saint John Tech where he studied
Instrumentation Technology. He held various jobs in
his younger years. In 1972, Allan along with
his buddies, Ally Lindsay and Ray Tyrell travelled to British
Columbia in Ray’s VW Bug. They found employment in
the lumber industry in Tasish. They were later joined by his brother
Bob. Allan returned home in 1973/4 and moved to
Fredericton in 1976, where he accepted a position with the
New Brunswick Electric Power Commission. There he met and married Debi
Seymour Hawkins. They moved to St. Stephen in
1983. He continued to work for NB Power until his retirement
in 2005. Following retirement, Allan continued to be a hard
worker, working on the construction of Route 1, and at a
security job with Border Security. He even raked blueberries
and picked tips into his sixties.
In his younger years Allan was active in sports, playing
Little League baseball, as well as hockey on make-shift
outdoor rinks in Milltown. In his early life, a coach dubbed him with
the nickname «Snib» and it stuck. As a young
adult, he played hockey with the St. Stephen Bisons.
Allan enjoyed all sports and was a die-hard Toronto Maple
Leaf’s, Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. He
loved fishing and hunting, and he took pride in keeping his yard in
pristine shape. His greatest love was his family, his son
Ryan and his daughters, Pamela and Melanie and his
grandchildren.
Allan is survived by his wife Debi, son, Ryan of St. Stephen,
daughters, Pamela MacMillan of Grand Lake, NB, and Melanie
Hawkins Duffy of Bedford, NS, grandchildren, Emma, Daniel,
Dylan, Danielle, Dustin, Jordyn, and Ainsley; great
grandchildren Sophia and Landon, brother, Bob,
sisters, Sandra and Betty (Brent), many nieces and nephews
and cousins.
Funeral service will be held at The S.O. Mehan & Son
Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B. on Thursday,
April 27, 2023 at 3 PM. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on
