Allan Arthur Brown
1946-2024
Loved by his family, Allan Arthur Brown, age
78, of Millville, Kings Co., slipped away in the early hours of
Tuesday, November 26, 2024 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville.
Born and
raised in the countryside of Little Forks, Cumberland Co., Allan
developed a lifelong love of being outside, gardening, fishing, and
enjoying nature to its fullest. He thought all wildflowers made the
most beautiful bouquet in their natural setting. Allan enjoyed getting
out on the golf course with his brothers for their annual golf
tournament. He loved inventing new card games, involving golf and
baseball. Allan was a lifelong ardent Chicago Blackhawks fan,
supporting them through thick and thin, until they won the Stanley Cup
in 2010 after a 49-year drought. His love of music encouraged him to
sing with the Men of St. Anthony’s and Friends choir. Allan
loved Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. He famously knew all their
lyrics and the facts and trivia about them. Allan also thoroughly
enjoyed acting in the St. Anthony’s Dinner Theatre. He had a
deep unshakable faith and was an active member of St.
Anthony’s of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Berwick. Allan
always enjoyed the company of friends, family and neighbours who
dropped by the house.
Allan is
survived by his wife of 48 years, Elisabeth (Juurlink) Brown;
daughter, Adelheid «Heidi» Brown, Yarmouth; and son,
Benjamin Brown, Windsor. Besides his immediate family, Allan is
survived by his brothers, Paul (Lois), Halifax, and Ernie (Dianne),
Fredericton, NB; as well as many nieces, nephews and
cousins.
Allan was
predeceased by his parents, Robert and Reta (Boutilier) Brown;
brother, Bob (Ruth) and niece, Meredith.
Cremation
has taken place. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 6 from
6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in St. Anthony’s of Padua Catholic Church,
Berwick, where the Funeral Mass, with a reception to follow, will be
held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 7. Father John MacPherson
officiating. Interment will take place in Berwick Cemetery. Family
flowers only, by request. Donations can be made to the ALS Society,
Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, or the family invites you to plant a
