Obituary of Alisha Dawn Chaisson
Alisha Dawn Chaisson August 4, 1988 – January 31, 2024 Age 35 years old.
Sadly, Alisha lost her battle with addiction and passed away on January 31, 2024. Although we all feared this day would come, it brings us great comfort to know she’s now safe with her mother resting peacefully in the arms of God living her best life.
Alisha was so much more than her addiction. She was a daughter, granddaughter, sister, mother, aunt, niece, many cousins, and friends with a personality larger than life. She had a great sense of humor and was loveable, caring, kind, real, captivating, fearless, outspoken, and sometimes a little Gangsta. She loved people from all walks of life and was genuinely interested in learning about other people’s life journeys and struggles.
Although in the grips of addiction, her deep love for her children helped her make the courageous, selfless, and admirable decision to ensure her children had a safe life and home. Talented in decorating, poetry, painting, and crafting, she enjoyed good food, good people, and a clean home.
Alisha was predeceased by her mother Denise Ann Chaisson and her grandfather Patrick Chaisson. She is survived by her children Bronson, Brooklynn, and Brycen Berry (chosen Mother Coral Berry); Father John Locke; sister Desiree (Lee Thomas); nieces Zanyia, Octavia, Karma, Telicia, and Cidieah; and her beloved Grandmother, whom she loved and adored, Mary (Newell) Chaisson. Grandparents Jim and Elsie Locke.
“I will not change so that people will like me. I will be myself and the right people will love me.”
In Alisha’s memory, we ask that you please educate yourselves on addiction to understand better that it is a disease. If we want to rejoice in God’s victory and Satan’s defeat, the stigma surrounding addiction needs to end. It does not just happen to bad people, who live in bad communities, it reaches every family in every community in our country. More empathy and less judgment are necessary to help combat this disease. Remember no child grows up hoping to suffer from this cunning baffling disease.
Celebration of life will be held at Life branch church 10 Lancaster Dr. Saturday, March 2nd, 1-4 pm.
You can learn more about ending the stigma on the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction website here www.ccsa.ca/stigma.
