With great sadness, we announce the passing of Alina Dmytrowski at the Queensway Hospital
in Ottawa, Ontario on Saturday, November 18, 2023. Alina was predeceased by Jean
Dmytrowski, her loving husband of 50 years, as well as her younger brother Zdzisław
Kwiatkowski and older sister, Danuta Pawłowska.
Alina will be remembered as the beloved mother of daughters, Diane Bartos and Yolande
Capra, and son-in-law, Dave Capra; proud grandmother of Emma, Ethan, Thomas, and
Samantha; devoted sister and sister-in-law of Jan and Christine Kwiatkowski; cherished aunt of
nieces Beata Contri, Tamara Barcińska, Ania Kwiatkowski, and nephew Mike Kwiatkowski, as
well as their spouses; and dear companion to all her extended family and friends in Ottawa,
Montreal, Poland and other parts of the world.
Alina was born in Brylewo, Poland, the second born child of four children of Marianna and
Leon Kwiatkowski. She studied at Technikum Ekonomiczne in Toruń, and graduated in 1960.
She moved to Canada in 1963 where she met her future husband Jean. Alina devoted her life
to her family, becoming a stay-at-home mother when her twin daughters were born.
Those who knew Alina would describe her as as warm, welcoming, generous, kindhearted
person, always working hard and thinking of others. She had a great sense of humour and
liked to joke around with those she was close with.
Family and friends are invited to say a final goodbye to Alina at a memorial service to be held at
Tubman Funeral Home-Garden Chapel (3440 Richmond Road, Ottawa, Ontario)
on Saturday, December 16, 2023 from 1:00-4:30.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated by the
family (support.alzheimer.ca).
