Alice Marie Connolly (nee Robichaud),99 years of age, of Port Rexton, Newfoundland and Labrador, passed peacefully away on August 1, 2023, at G. B.Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, NL.
Mom was born in Cormier’s Cove, New Brunswick on Sept. 10, 1923. She moved to Montreal in 1949 where she met and married Leonard Patrick Connolly of Newfoundland on Dec 23, 1950. In 1972, Alice and Len moved to Newfoundland with the family where they resided ever since.
Mom enjoyed many things that life had to offer. Her passions included crocheting, knitting, doll and toy making, sewing, but most of all she was a fantastic blanket maker and quilter. Alice also loved a good kitchen party and a card game of 120’s.
Alice is survived by her children: Patricia of Port Rexton, Ronald (Kelly Walters) of Trinity East, Colleen (Todd Smith) of St. John’s and Sharon (Mack Wiens) of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren: Dan, Steven, (Mother Carol Piercey), Erin and Carson and step-grand children Chelsea and Julianna Smith; great grand-children Tiisha, Nathaniel, Isaac and Madison; extended family in New Brunswick, Ontario and other locations; as well as special friends Geraldine Bailey and Doreen Day Zarowny.
She is predeceased by her husband, Leonard Connolly (2008), parents Elise (nee Cormier) and Tilmon Robichaud, her sisters Claudia LeBlanc and Hermine Lemire and brothers Cloris, Harvey, Mélas, Raymond, Olivier, Joseph, Camille, Ola, Benoit, and Eloi Robichaud.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Naomi Verge and Compassion Home Care for the wonderful care and support they gave our mother and the numerous games of scrabble that they both enjoyed.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
There will not be a funeral service. An inurnment will be held at the Port Rexton Anglican Cemetery followed by a celebration of her life at a date and place to be announced.
