ALICE ROSS
Peacefully at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, Alice Lavina Ross (nee Silverthorn) of Tillsonburg passed away at the age of 89 years. She valiantly fought to be here for her birthday on June 20. She is predeceased by the one great love of her life, Kenneth Ross (1986). Loving and proud mother to Terry Ross, Rick (Cheryl) Ross and Karen (Paul) Baird. Doting and proud grandmother to Kenzie and Gracie Baird. Sister to Warren Silverthorn, Don (Lynn) Silverthorn, Florence Mannell and sister-in-law Patricia Lea (nee Ross). Alice will be dearly missed by her nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents William Silverthorn, Clarence and Doris Swance, and her sister Ruby.
Alice was the proud owner of Tip Top Cleaners in Tillsonburg dating back to 1947 as a “Ross” family business. She took over the business in 1986 to run it with her family. Many will remember Alice as extremely “meticulous”, and she took great pride in her work for her many loyal customers. Her family wishes to thank all of her former employees, customers and the Town of Tillsonburg for their many years of support. She truly loved what she did. Once Alice finally retired in her mid 70’s, she loved to spend time with her grandchildren and watching their hockey and ringette games. She enjoyed her crossword puzzles, spending time with her girlfriends and Blue Jays baseball.
The family wishes to give special thanks to the nurses and doctors on 2nd floor north, Tillsonburg Hospital and everyone in her life that helped them keep a close eye on her in her final months.
Cremation has taken place, and a private memorial service will be held Friday June 28, 2024.
A public Celebration of Life will follow in the coming months and details to be announced prior.
