Alfred Taylor Obituary
It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our father, Alfred Thomas Taylor on, Tuesday, November 5th, 2024, at the age of 79 at Kiknu Nursing Home.
Dad was born and raised in Sydney Mines on October 3rd, 1945, to the late Alfred and Angela Taylor. He is survived by his two beloved children Ann Lousie (Milton) Howley and Michael Dion (Elaine) Taylor, three grandchildren, Amanda, Erin and Kristen and two great-grandchildren, Jade and Iruma. Dad is also survived by his siblings Curt, (Carol_ Taylor, Paul Taylor, Joey (Louise) Taylor and sister Mary Angela MacAulay plus many cherished nieces, nephews and friends.
In his younger years dad was a “Jack of all trades” working at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, The Princess Colliery Coalmine, Driver for Penny’s Taxi and finally a Co-Pilot on the North Sydney Pilot Boat before retiring. He was also a former member of the Sydney Gun Club Association.
Our father was known for his keen sense of humour, always telling a good joke or recounting his stories of people and places on our beautiful Island. He truly was a storyteller at heart. Dad also enjoyed the simplicity of life, driving and exploring and sipping a Tim’s coffee down by the ocean, Nature and wildlife were his passion.
My brother and I would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff at Dutch Brooke Assistant Living Guest Home under the Administration of Philip Woodill and wife Susan. Your kindness in providing our dad with loving care for eight years is greatly appreciated and we are forever grateful.
We would also like to thank the Nurses and staff at the Kiknu Nursing Home, Eskasoni, Especially RN’s Alexsanderine Stevens and Monica Denny, as well as Vivian Paul CCA for providing our father with the best quality of care and treating him with dignity and respect during his final months of life.
Thank you, to Dads family Physician Dr. M.F. McKeough and Louise McKeough for their many years of wonderful care.
As per our fathers wishes, there will be no wake. Cremation has taken place and there will be a small, Private family service of remembrance at J.M. Jobes Funeral Home with a private family burial following.
