Obituary
Townsend, Albert Eugene – 85, Lockeport, Nova Scotia passed away at Roseway Hospital on Sunday, May 14, 2023. Born in Shelburne, he was the son of the late Webster and Annie (Weir) Townsend.
Despite being legally blind for most of his life, Albert never once used his vision as an excuse, or apologized for it, and he had a work ethic second to none. With the help of his family, he was able to remain in his own home until his death. Albert was passionate about the things he enjoyed. He loved a good joke, a game of bingo, stopping for a meal after travelling for appointments, Sunday morning Tim Hortons trips, Legion breakfasts, his Christmas lights, lobsters, halibut cheeks, the Blue Jays, old time country music, sharing his knowledge about cement work, and suppers with his grandson Brett.
Albert was a provider who was blessed with a tight knit, blended family. Many people, young and old, have memories of working for Albert pouring concrete and/or having work done on their properties. He desperately missed his wife, Lorraine, after her passing in September 2021. He was an amazing man who was loved by all, and who will be deeply missed by his family and friends. His wit and jokes regularly brought smiles to peoples’ faces. He is survived by his sons, Mark (Vanessa), Andre (Jackie), Tim (Angela); daughter, Lorenda (John); stepsons, Emerson (Laura), Dean (Janice); and stepdaughter Wanda (Richard); 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Brenda Townsend, and second wife, Lorraine Townsend.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 17th from 6-8 p.m. at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Lockeport. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, May 18th at the Lockeport Pentecostal Church at noon, with Pastor Jeff Peters officiating. Burial in Lockeport Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lockeport & Area Medical First Responders who the family are so grateful and appreciative of.
