With a sad and heavy heart. Our family announces the passing of Al McIntosh our Dad, husband (predeceased by his wife of 69 years Rene McIntosh August 22, 2021) Grandfather, Great Grandfather .Uncle, Brother, the Voice of Loggers Sports and many many friends. Dad was born in Winnipeg Manitoba December 22, 1930 and was later joined by a sister, In 1948 the entire family moved to BC where he worked making leather boots gloves and saddles for a mere $15.00 a week. Later in life he met his wife Rene in Burnaby BC, where they were married in May of 1952. In 1953 son Brian McIntosh joined the family, and then a year and half later they moved to Squamish. In 1959 a daughter Kellie McIntosh joined the family. Over the years Dad was a Logger, then became a carpenter. Dad built several buildings in Squamish a lot of them still stand today. Dad was an instrumental part of the starting of Squamish Days Loggers Sports where he was the MC for 45 years . Dad was also a part of a water skiing group where they entertained crowds with many tricks. Dad trained and rode horses, some of which participated in the Gymkhana days at the Brennan property in Brackendale. Dad loved curling and played for many years participating in bonspiels and won many trophies.
Dad gave so much to the Squamish community
People have said that no matter how old you are it is never easy to lose a parent. These words are so very true Al McIntosh was a legend, people that knew him were proud to know him.
Timers ready/contestants ready/ One Two GO… Rest easy Dad. You will be forever missed, our hearts are and will remain filled with your memories. Say hi to Mom for us.
As per Dads wishes we will not be holding a public service. If you wish to make a donation in his memory please consider the Squamish Hospital Foundation
A big thank you to Hilltop house Nurses and all staff alike for your care and love for our Dad, we are very thankful.
