Obituary of Adalai Quentin Dwain Mills
Adalai Quentin Mills, 68, Linacy, passed away peacefully Monday, October 7, 2024, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late George Walter and Agatha Aurelia (Jewell) Mills. Prior to retirement, Adalai was employed with the Pictou County YMCA for many years. Adalai enjoyed dancing, playing guitar and singing. He and Vanessa sang karoke whenever possible. Adalai was always singing a tune. In earlier years he was bassist for local bands, Foxfire and August Rain. He possessed a wonderful sense of humour and had the ability to make everyone laugh. Adalai was always able to make the most out of everything. His fur buddies, Milo and Bailey, were constantly by his side. Adalai was always willing to lend a helping hand. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Surviving are his wife, Vanessa Mills; daughters, Kholbi Mills and Meranda Mills, New Glasgow; Marla Mills (Dylan Best), New Glasgow; Brittany Davidson, Westville; sons, Dwain Mills, George Mills and Jeremey Mills, New Glasgow; grandchildren, Austin, Shayla, Khian, Kinley, Sophia, Liam, Bryson and Alayah; sisters, Rhonda Smith, New Glasgow; Beverly Borden, Park Land, Alta.; Trudy Mills, New Glasgow; brothers, Harold “Hump” (Grace) Mills, New Glasgow; Guillio (Kristy) Mills, New Glasgow; Shawn Mills, New Glasgow; sister-in-law, Anne Jewell, New Glasgow; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brother, Thurman “Doc” Jewell.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, October 10, in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, October 11 in the chapel with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating.
Donations may be made in Adalai’s memory towards his son, Jeremey’s care .
Adalai’s family wish to thank the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit staff, EHS paramedics and everyone who has helped in any way though out the past years.
