Russ Hepworth passed away peacefully at Saanich Peninsula Hospital on Friday, March 10, 2023.
Russ is survived by his wife of 53 years, Pennie, stepson Steven, sister Barbara and a special cousin Marie Mitchell.
In his early years he was actively involved in the Drag Racing community. Initially with San Cobble Raceways and then with Van Isle Dragways. In 2002 Russ and Rick Gonder organized a reunion of the two Drag Strips.
After many years of working for others, Russ started Tech Mechanical Systems Ltd. During his working career he was very involved in the Mechanical Contractors Association both Provincially and Nationally serving as National Chairman 1995/96. His happy place was on board his boat the MV Mickey Roo exploring local waters. Russ had many memorable times in his home in Rancho Mirage and then Palm Desert enjoying the challenge of the many gold courses.
After suffering a stroke in 2019, Russ slowed his pace and just enjoyed life.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at 2:00 pm, in the Sequioa Centre, at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the BC Cancer Foundation.
