Obituary of Joe Schneider
SCHNEIDER, Fritz Joachim “Joe” – Peacefully with his family by his side, Joe Schneider died at Bluewater Health on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at the age of 90. Beloved husband of the late Maria Elisabeth (2016). Loving father of Andrew Schneider & his wife Jill, Mississauga and Barbara Beloniak & her husband Michael, Mississauga. Cherished grandfather of Stephen (Nafiza), Brendan (Whitney), Ryan and Danielle. Proud great-grandfather of Eloise, Grace, and Hannah. Dear brother of Eberhard Schneider (Dietland) and Hartmut Schneider (Doris) both of Germany. Brother-in-law of Ursula Beutigen and Renate Jonas & her husband Gerd both of Germany. Also survived by many nieces and nephews in Germany.
Joe was born in Glogau, Germany and came to Canada after completing his apprenticeship as a bricklayer and stone mason. He settled in Sarnia in 1953 and spent over 40 years applying his trade to the development of Sarnia. He especially enjoyed and prided himself in creating unique stone fireplaces for many residents in the area.
His wife Maria followed him to Canada in 1959 and they were married for 56 years. Joe enjoyed gardening and had a beautiful property. He loved jazz and dancing with Maria. They travelled back to Germany several times to visit family, but the highlight of their travels was a trip to Australia and Hawaii. In his later years he enjoyed spending time with friends and exploring new eateries.
Joe was a proud father and grandfather, but he was especially proud to be a great grandfather to three beautiful girls he affectionately called “The Kingston Trio”. Joe will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.
