With much reluctance and immeasurable love, we set free from her Earthly journey, on March 15, 2023, Wendy Lee Barry (nee McNiff), loving wife of George Barry for 47 years and mother of two wonderful sons, Chad and Casey (Lydia Burggraaf), proud grandmother of George, Basel, Shelby and Angus, the golden apples of her eyes.
She was the second daughter of ‘Harry’ McNiff Jr. (predeceased 1984) and Catherine «Kay’ Gregory (predeceased 2008) of Chatham, sister of Rob McNiff (Carol Moore) and Sandy McNiff and predeceased by brother, Gordon Bruce McNiff (1948).
Also survived by nephews and a niece: Jude Taylor, Ryan and Teri McNiff.
The family is deeply grateful for the special care and attention of the London Regional Cancer Program physicians, lead by Dr. Sanatani, Doctors Lau and Haddad of Chatham, the staff of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance and Chatham-Kent Hospice. We also thank all those individuals who gave her emotional support during the ultimate challenge of her life.
Cremation has taken place. She has commenced on another adventure, unaccompanied, her heart full of love and she will always be with us in spirit. A private celebration will take place at a later time.
She shares these words:
Please do not cry long.. . .. set me free.
It’s happiness and joy for you I choose to see.
I’ll always be with you in nature’s splendorous weave.
Be grateful for everything; please do not long grieve.
For I’ll always be with you in my essence which is not bounded by my physical presence.
Memories will heal you as sorrow takes flight.
Look for my star on a cloudless night!
My spirit is all around you no matter what time.
No matter what distance. No matter the climb.
For we were bound together, no matter the season.
I know it was love. Love was the reason.
Daughter and sister consisted of my first training preparing the way … experience gaining.
My true callings were mother, grandmother and wife.
Remember this as you celebrate my life.
