It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rachel Brown on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at the age of 46. Beloved wife, friend and soulmate to Colin. Cherished mother to Amy and Emily, of whom she was immensely proud, and fur mum to Finley. Daughter of Ann and the late Bernard Tong, niece of Richard and Valerie Hayton, cousin of Elizabeth, Andrew and Wendy from the UK. Daughter-in-law to Roger and Adrienne Brown. Sister-in-law to Craig and Tammy and Adam and Jill. Aunt to Owen (Saumya) and Ethan (Trinity). Rachel will also be missed by her beloved Aunt Shirley and Uncle Steve as well as family, friends and coworkers in both Canada and the UK. Special thanks to Dr. Oren Levine for his kind care over the years.
Rachel spent her career in the service of others, most recently impacting the lives of students at Mohawk College and then McMaster University where she worked with students with disabilities, helping them to achieve their potential. A lifelong learner, Rachel received a Masters of Education, and was awarded an Alumni of Distinction. She accomplished her dream of traveling the world, visiting 37 countries across 6 continents. Rachel loved horses. Her childhood horse Star had a special place in her heart.
Service will be held at STONEHOUSE-WHITCOMB FUNERAL HOME, 11 Mountain Street, GRIMSBY (905-945-2755). Visitation on Friday, January 10, 2025, from 5-8 p.m. Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 2 p.m. Click here to view the webcast. Please wear your favourite colours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to McNally House Hospice, Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice or Juravinski Cancer Centre would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
