Edna was beautiful, kind hearted, and loving, with a heart of gold and a wonderful sense of humor. She was very fashion oriented and dressed with style and flair. She loved her family with all her heart and was always there for us.
Edna retired from a long and wonderful career at Ayre & Sons on Water Street. She held several positions over the years and one position was manager of the Cosmetics Department which she loved and added her own special touch to everything. She accepted the position of buyer along with co-worker and special friend Alice Churchill. Together they made many trips to Montreal on buying expeditions and managed to have lots of fun in their spare time.
Edna loved to travel, dance and party. She spent many summers visiting her sister Evelyn (Ed) over the years in Ontario. She and Aiden traveled to the U.S., England, Ontario and many parts of the U.S. and Canada. They loved to go camping in their motor home visiting many Newfoundland nooks & crannies. Aiden did the fishing and hunting and Edna did her scratch tickets. They never missed a dance, birthday, or anniversary party. They were the first on the dance floor and the last to leave. They loved the Brigus Blueberry Festival and had their own special spot reserved each year.
Special and heartfelt thank you to the staff, doctors, and nurses, at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home 3 North for their wonderful care, love and attention you gave our precious Edna during her stay. Huge thank you to Dr. Thomas Dunne and Dr. Sandi Ennis.
