Obituary of Jim Pickard
Much loved son of Helen (nee Coke) and Robert Pickard.
Jim passed away the way he wanted to…in the comfort of his own home and while surrounded by loved ones on Thursday morning, March 9, 2023. He was 63 years of age. Jim suffered greatly from C.O.P.D.; yet he never complained. Jim was very bright, however he was never able to reach his full potential (ADHD and PTSD). He suffered from alcohol abuse. He has been a recovering addict for many years. Everyone who knew him said that he was a great guy; kind, caring and empathetic. Left to mourn Jim’s loss is his sister Jennifer (Hugh Robertson and their children Haily and Kaitlyn), Lisa (most loving, caring and kindest person in Jim’s life), friend and ‘brother’ of 50 years Douglas Robert Henderson, his first ‘crush’ and dearest friend Jill Halliday and Robyn Ruscher. Many thanks to Jim’s wonderful GP Dr. Jennifer Becker and his PSW and great friend Cindy Boland.
Jim’s final care and private arrangements have been entrusted to the
Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior.
By Jim’s request, donations in his memory may be made to Mackay Manor, 196 Argyle Street South, Renfrew, Ontario K7V 1T5.
God’s Lent Child
I’ll lend you for a little while a little while a child of mind, God said; for you to love the while he lives and mourn for when he’s dead.
It may be six or seven years or sixty one or three, but will you, till I call him back take care of him for me?
He’ll bring his charms to gladden you, and should his stay be brief, you’ll always have memories, as a solace in your grief
I cannot promise he will stay, for all from Earth return. But there are lessons taught below I want this child to learn.
I’ve looked this whole world over for teachers true, and from the folk that crowded life’s lane I have chosen you.
Now you will give him all your love and not think the labour vain, Nor hate me when I come to take, this lent child back again?
I fancy that I heard them say
“Dear God thy will be done”, for all the joy this child will bring the risk of grief we’ll run.
We will shelter him with tenderness, we’ll love him while we may and for all the happiness we’ve ever known, we’ll forever grateful stay.
But should the Angel’s call him much sooner than we planned, we will brave the bitter grief that comes and try to understand.
Rest in Peace dear one
We will never forget you.
