Raymond Bennett Obituary
Bennett, Raymond, of Mount Pearl, NL passed away on November 14, 2024, at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital.
He was born on October 15, 1936, to Frank Bennett and Gladys Cassell in Hooping Harbour, White Bay, NL.
Raymond served in the Canadian military from 1954 – 1957. He traveled extensively though-out Canada working as a plumber and pipefitter and was a proud member of the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters, Local 740. In retirement, he thoroughly enjoyed spending summers at his childhood home in Blackhead, CBN.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son David and grandchildren Emily and Clare.
Leaving to mourn his loving wife Joan (nee Short), sons Peter (Maureen) and Glenn (Jo-Lynne Carter), grandchildren Madeleine, Alex, Christopher and Justyne, sisters Miriam Moore and Anne Snook (Ron) as well as many friends and extended relatives.
The Bennett family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff of St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, 6th Floor East. We will be forever grateful for the compassionate care he received.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation to take place from 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm on Monday, November 18th. Funeral service to take place at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, November 19th at Barrett’s Funeral Home Chapel, Hamilton Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First United Church in Mount Pearl, NL.
“God saw that he was getting tired,
A cure was not to be.
So He put His arms around him
and whispered, “Come with Me.”
With tearful eyes, we watched him suffer,
And saw him fade away.
Although we loved him dearly,
We could not make him stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes “the best.”
