With broken hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our precious, beautiful mother Lillian Dawn Winsor (nee Melendy). She passed peacefully at Glenbrook Lodge at the age of 95 on Tuesday, November, 12, 2024.
Predeceased by her husband Woodrow; darling daughter Sheila Best; granddaughter Lori Winsor; special friend Major Marjorie Burton; and beloved fur baby Peaches.
She will be immensely missed by her children: Clarence Winsor (Debbie), Brenda Hancock (Wayne), Lana Crane (Peter), Randy Winsor (Marlene), Rick Winsor (Marcie); son-in-law Wilson Best; her dearly loved four grandchildren: Lisa, Leslie, Tracy, and Kayla; five great-grandchildren: Alaina, Nathan, Natalie, Luke, and Hilary; one great-great-granddaughter Nova Lynn; she will also be missed by dear lifelong friends Marion Winsor-Short and Doris “Sturge” Kean; along with numerous loved friends and extended family.
Mom loved her family beyond measure. We were her world and she was ours. She never met a stranger, her door was always open and everyone was always welcomed at Dawn and Woodrow’s.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Glenbrook Lodge, where Dawn volunteered at Ladies Auxiliary for over 30+ years, for their exceptional care and attention given to our mom over the past seven months.
Honoring our mom’s wishes cremation has taken place, there will be no visitation or memorial service.
For those who wish donations can be made to Ronald McDonald House or to the charity of one’s choice in Mom’s memory.
A mother is she who
can take the place of all others
but whose place no one else can take
