STAINES, Alfred William – Passed away peacefully at Ina Grafton Retirement Home on Tuesday November 5, 2024 just before his 90th birthday. Beloved husband of the late Edith “Edie” (2020) for 42 years. Loving father of Karen (Ted) Knapik, Doug (Jean) Staines, Heather Deline and Sheila (Gord) Brinkman, Christine Costiff (Terry Callaghan), and Michael Hare. Caring grandfather of Allyssa, Kailyn, Caleb, Dustin, Joseph, Daniel, Emily, Evan, Steven, Stuart, Jennifer, D’Arcy, Angel, Mike, the late Kaleb and the late Lucas. He leaves behind his many great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents Charles and Emma Staines, brother George Staines and sisters Dorothy Hill and Edna Howse. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Alfred worked for many years at General Motors. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, traveling with Edith on their many adventures snowbirding to Texas and spending time with his family. Alfred loved to cheer on his Toronto Blue Jays and could be found most of the time sporting a Jays cap. He will be remembered for his easy-going personality, sense of humour and his quick wit.
Friends and family are invited to MORGAN FUNERAL HOME, 415 Regent Street, Niagara-on-the-Lake on Friday November 8, 2024 from 1 pm to 3 pm. Cremation will follow with a private family interment at a later date. Those who wish may make a memorial donation to a charity of one’s choice.
