It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our father, Luigi on Monday October 28, 2024, at Ridge Meadows Hospital in Maple Ridge BC.
Born September 22, 1939, in Bovalino Marino, Reggio Calabria, Italy. Dad and mom were married in 1964 and immigrated to Canada in 1966.
A resident of North Burnaby for over 46 years, dad left his mark in the lower mainland as his incredible talented skill of masonry can be seen in various locations, including the exterior rock walls at the domestic terminal at Vancouver International Airport.
Dad left behind a heartbroken family. Wife Paola, only 2 months shy of their 60th wedding anniversary. Daughters Maria (David) Dupont, Patricia Miniaci and Angelica (Ben) Guglielmino. Grandchildren, Christine, Jessica, Michelle, Christopher, Sabrina, Michael, Audrey, Cole and Caroline. Step-grandchildren, Alicia, Vanessa and Deandra. Great grandchildren, Emery, Jaxson and Luca. Predeceased by his infant son Giuseppe in 1966, father Giuseppe, mother Giuseppina, brother Mario and son in law Vince. Dad also leaves to mourn him, his best friend and brother Bruno (Silvana), sister Maria Crimeni, brother Rosario as well as many family members including in-laws, nieces and nephews in BC, Toronto and Italy and many dear friends and neighbors.
Dad really enjoyed his days spent in the garden and was very proud to show you his massive tomatoes, peppers, beans and abundance of basil. Dad was an avid hunter and also enjoyed fishing, playing bocce, and often, time would get away from him as he spent hours enjoying card games with his friends on Commercial Drive and North Burnaby Cafes.
Prayers will be offered on Thursday November 7, 2024, at 6:00 pm, St. Frances de Sales Catholic Church 6610 Balmoral Street, Burnaby BC.
Mass of Christian Burial on Friday November 8, 2024, at 11:00 am. Entombment to follow at Ocean View Burial Park, South Mausoleum, Burnaby, BC.
