Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our cherished Rose (Michelina) Montesanto on October 31, 2024. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Giorgio. She is survived by her daughters Anna (Marc Riehm) and Brenda (Aurelio Caruso). She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Lauren, Graham, and Michelle.
Rose was born on September 29, 1936, in Civitanova Marche, Italy, where her family still resides. She is predeceased by her sister Anna and survived by her sisters Giustina and Giovana, as well as a loving extended family in Italy. She immigrated to Canada in 1965 and was immensely proud to call this country her home. She was a tireless worker who found her true calling in retirement as a volunteer at St. Peter’s Hospital, Hamilton. Rose will be remembered as a resilient, lively, and compassionate woman.
The family would like to thank the remarkable staff at Extendicare Hamilton for the exceptional care of our mother and their support and kindness to her family. We would also like to acknowledge the Riehm (Elaine & Carl) and Caruso (Eugenio & Antonietta) families, which Rose treasured as her Canadian family.
Visitation will be held at Friscolanti Funeral Chapel, 43 Barton Street East on Tuesday from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Eugene’s Church on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Burlington.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Peter’s Hospital Hamilton or a charity of your choice.
