William Philip Hayes «Bill»
With great sadness we announce William P. “Bill” Hayes III, of Gananoque, Ontario, age 76 passed away peacefully after a short illness on Sunday, October 24, 2024.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Jan Hayes of Gananoque, Ontario; his daughter Kristen Patel of New York and her husband Malcolm and grandchildren Alexander and Cameron; son Patrick Hayes of New Hampshire and his wife Joanne and grandchildren Ryan and Sean; brother Brian Hayes of Rhode Island and his wife Valerie; sister Alison Rutley of Massachusetts and her husband Jon and nieces Catherine with Andrew and Hannah with Matt.
Bill was predeceased by his parents William P. Hayes II and Patricia Hayes both of Boston, MA.
After his graduation from Boston Latin High School, Bill attended Northeastern University and received both his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Business Management while playing football for the university. Bill held several executive positions both domestically and internationally in the IT industry to include Xerox, AES Data Systems, and VNI. He greatly enjoyed finishing his career as General Manager for the Gananoque Boat Line, serving as President of the local Chamber of Commerce, and acting as a Board Director for TIAP before retiring in 2012.
In retirement Bill enjoyed his time traveling with Jan, fishing all around the United States and Canada, boating on the St. Lawrence River, visiting with family and friends, and cheering on his favorite sports teams.
Bill will be missed by his friends and loved ones both locally and internationally.
A special thanks to all the caring staff at KGH who were involved in his care and particularly Dr. Albert Choe and nurse Kim Hartling. Their compassion was greatly appreciated by all of the family.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be conducted in the spring of 2025. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Kingston General Hospital Foundation (KHSC) in Bill’s honor.
