On Wednesday, October 23rd, 2024, the world lost the sweetest and kindest human who had a smile that would light up the room.
We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of James Thomas Knott.
Our hearts are completely shattered.
Jim is survived by his daughters,
Michelle (Pete) Paterson and Jayne (Kirk) Martin.
Adored Papa of Alyssa, Ashton, Alexis, Olivia and Sofia.
His grandchildren were the five most precious people in his life and he was SO very proud of them.
He is also survived by Michelle and Jayne’s mother, Sue Knott.
Loving sister of Coral (Jim) Bradshaw and treasured uncle of Amy (Mark) Boshart and Cory (Trisha) Bradshaw.
Great uncle to Spencer, Blake, Brooke, Lola and Hudson. Loved stepson of Marion Knott.
Fondly remembered by many cousins, family and friends.
Predeceased by his parents, Roy Knott and Jean (Charlie) Hunter.
If you lived in Ingersoll or St Mary’s you knew who Jim was and most knew him as “Jim the Butcher.”
He learned how to cut meat from Alfred Garnham and he started his meat cutting career at Goodlet’s in Tillsonburg, followed by Zehrs in Ingersoll before opening his own store in Ingersoll called Jim’s Butcher Shop. After he closed his store, he worked at Sobeys in Tillsonburg, Independent Grocer in Ingersoll and most recently, Delmar Foods in St Mary’s. He was so well loved that he retired twice!
Jim was a huge part of the Ingersoll and St Mary’s communities and it was very difficult to get past him at the meat counter without him saying hi or starting a conversation. His memory was unreal, and if he knew you, he most likely also knew your entire family tree!
He was an avid sports fan and supporter of sports. He was the sponsor for The Folden’s Marlins ladies fastball team for years. He loved his Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays as well as any sport that his daughters and grandchildren played. He loved being at the schools, arenas and ball diamonds watching them play.
Jim was the happiest, friendliest man who had a heart of gold and outgoing personality. Even his eyes smiled!
He was a true gem of a person and he was all ours. We will treasure every single moment we had with him.
“In a world where you can be anything, be kind.”
