It is with broken hearts the family announces the passing of our beloved Roger Raymond surrounded by his loving family at the west Nipissing Family General Hospital (Sturgeon Falls) on Thursday October 3, 2024, at the age of 78.
Despite spending his last year in and out of the hospital, he never lost his sense of humour and his love for his family, especially his adored wife of 53 years that never left his side. Throughout his entire journey, he cracked jokes with his kids, shared many life stories with his grandkids, and even pulled some light-hearted pranks on the nurses. He had a great ability to make others smile and his sense of humour will be missed. Let’er rip!
Roger was the beloved husband to Sharon (Woodruff) and loving father to Steven Raymond (Anne Marcoux), Jessica Raymond (Matt Larochelle) and Melanie Raymond. Fondly known as Pepere, Roger doted on his grandchildren Danika, Darius (Raymond), Mason, Madden (Larochelle), Gracey and Ethan (Marshall). Roger was his happiest when surrounded by his family, he especially adored holiday dinners, even the themed ones with everyone gathered together. Roger was now the smallest of the bunch, but his presence was immense with his unwavering love, warm smile and infectious laugh. After retiring from the MTO, Roger found a new love for camping in which he shared with his family. He thoroughly enjoyed sitting by the fire surrounded by his loved ones enjoying music, laughs, sharing stories and having a few drinks.
Roger was born to the late Lucille (Gagne) and Jean Raymond on June 19 1946 in Temiscaming, QC. He was the eldest child who cherished and treasured his siblings; Pat (Denise), Louise, RoseMarie (Charles) and Claudette. From the many stories shared by Roger, he was a mischievous child, always the joker who loved sports, cars and his extensive family. His mother would say, you are the eldest and you must look after your brother and sisters. For years, he was there to help, give advice and make sure that his siblings were safe and in good hands. Roger was very similar to his father who also enjoyed being with people, and had this “Joie de Vivre” that he passed on to his children.
Not a day will go by that we don’t think of you and feel blessed to have been part of your life journey. Your legacy and love for life will continue to inspire and comfort those who knew you.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the compassionate and supportive staff of the Sturgeon Falls Hospital as well as McGuinty Funeral Home.
