It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Vernon Coxhead, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, who left us in 2024 at the age of 92. Vernon was married to his beloved wife, Margaret, for 64 wonderful years. Together, they raised three children: Linda, Douglas, and Gregory, who carry forward his legacy of love and strength. He was a proud grandfather to Jade, Corey, and Tyler, who brought immense joy to his life.
For over 35 years, Vernon dedicated his career to Royal Insurance, where he served as a proud member of the guards. He took great pride in his work and was known for his unwavering commitment and strong work ethic.
An avid gardener, Vernon found peace and joy in nurturing plants and flowers. He maintained a healthy lifestyle, exercising daily by swimming and walking in his neighborhood. His adventurous spirit led him and Margaret on countless travels around the world, often enjoying unforgettable cruises together.
Vernon was also a proud member of Scouts Canada, serving as a Scout leader for many years. His passion for guiding and inspiring youth reflected his generous spirit and commitment to community.
The Coxhead family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at The Village of Erin Meadows for their countless efforts and support during Vern’s final days. Your kindness will not be forgotten. Vernon’s warmth, humour, and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 10:00 AM at McKersie & Early Funeral Home, 114 Main Street East, Milton, ON and all are welcome to join in honouring this remarkable man. A memorial service will follow immediately at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer Society of Canada, a cause close to Vernon’s heart.
Rest in peace, Vernon. Your love and spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
