Charles Randall «Randy» Nowlan
1954-2024
Charles Randall «Randy» Nowlan passed away on
September 22, 2024, at South Shore Regional Hospital after a series of
illnesses. He was 70 years old. Randy was born in Truro, Nova Scotia,
and raised in Nova Scotia and Mississauga, Ontario. He received a
bachelor’s degree in History and Philosophy of Science from
Trinity College, University of Toronto, and a LLB and LLM from Osgoode
Hall Law School. He continued his studies at Acadia University later
in life.
Randy was a lifelong learner, passionate about books,
philosophy, history, and writing, and a steady presence in many
people’s lives. Randy loved music, sailing, and
understanding how things work. Randy regularly volunteered at the
First Interfaith Out of the Cold in Toronto. He imparted to his
children an ability to go far outside their comfort zones, to always
remain open to new ideas, and persevere when the going is
rough.
Randy was preceded in death by his father, Charles, and his
mother, Bernice, and his former wife, Ann. He is survived by his
children, Aileen (Joshua), Gavin (Janette), and Owen (Eric &
Sebastian); sister, Christine, and brothers John and David; and
grandchildren, Alexander and Clara.
We wish to thank the staff of South Shore Regional Hospital
and Shoreham Village. A memorial service will take place Saturday,
October 19 2024 at the White Family Funeral Home in Kentville, Nova
Scotia at 11 am. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White
Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. Online
condolences and inquiries may be directed to
