Janet Linda Duffy (1952-2024)
Janet Linda Duffy (nee Gibson), 72, was welcomed into the arms of her Saviour on September 24th, 2024. Her years-long, painful battle is now over, and she is enjoying peace, without any more pain and suffering. Known for her kindness and devotion to her friends and family, she is sorely missed by all who knew her.
Beloved wife of David Duffy. Loving mother of Dave Duffy (Annie), and Dawn Gilbert (Bryan). Proud Grandmother of Solomon, Ezra, Abraham, Susanna, Job, and Ruth.
Dear daughter of Evelyn (nee Augustine) and William (Bob) Gibson (both predeceased), sister of Wendy Gibson-Johnston and Paula Gibson, as well as an aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Janet was born in Sioux Lookout in 1952. While studying at Cambrian College to become an x-ray technician she met the love of her life, David. They became married in 1977. Together, they worked hard to create a life devoted to family and raising their children. Janets devotion was matched only by her kindness and generosity to those she loved. She dedicated many years as a leader for Girl Guides, and volunteered at schools wherever she was needed. After her kids were grown, she went back into the workforce as a Medical Secretary for 22 years and settled into retirement in 2022.
The family expresses their appreciation to staff at Health Sciences North for their care and support.
A visitation will be held Friday October 4th, 2024, at Sudbury Bible Fellowship (1661 Lansing Ave) from 2-4pm, and 6-8pm. Funeral service will be held Saturday October 5th, 2024, at SBF at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Arthritis Society would be appreciated.
