Passed peacefully away at the JPMH Gander, on February 27, 2023 John (Jack) Sheppard age 88.
Jack is predeceased by his parents Frank & Melinda Sheppard and step-mother Mary Sheppard. Siblings and their spouses, Sadie, Violet (Gilbert Lynch), Susie (Bob Baggs), Grace (Basil Combs), Verdon, Harvey (Lillian), Tom (Jean), Vic (Marjorie).
Grandchildren Leon Denty, Georgina Denty and Andrew Sheppard.
Left to mourn his loving wife Florence, Children Viola (George Summers), John (Allison), Melinda (Stephen Gooderham).
Grandchildren Stephanie Sheppard (Nathan Ellis), John Summers (Melissa Mcgrath) and Christopher Gooderham (Allison).
Great grandchildren Andrew Matchim-Sheppard, Hunter and Elizah, Tanner, Carson & Bennett Gooderham and a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends.
Jack was born in Bishop Falls April 16, 1934. He moved to Gaff Topsail as a young boy with his father working as a section foreman with the Railway. He moved around from Sunnyside to Bonavista to Alexander Bay Station.
He met the love of his life, Florence in Glovertown in May 1960. They were married 3 months later on August the 10th of that same year and had 3 children together.
Jack had an extraordinary sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. He made friends wherever he went and everyone was welcomed in his home.
He dearly loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren whom will miss him dearly.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday March 1, 2023 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Oram’s Funeral Home in Glovertown.
Service will be held at The Salvation Army Glovertown on Thursday March 2, 2023 at 2 pm.
