Lockstein, M. Averil (Nunn) (September 3, 1925 – September 5, 2024)
Passed away, peacefully, after a long and well-lived life, Marion “Averil” (Nunn) Lockstein, at Caressant Care, Courtland, on September 5th, 2024, in her 100th year. Averil was born in and was a lifelong resident of Courtland. Averil was lovingly referred to as the “Yahtzee Queen”, for her love of the game, playing cards, and board games. Averil loved dancing in her younger years and spending time with her much-loved family and friends. Averil was a proud and loving mother to Karolyn (Ron Wiens), of Port Rowan; Gary Lockstein, of Tillsonburg; Terry (Mary-Liz), of Tillsonburg; Mari-Ann (Allan Poole), of Tillsonburg; Betti-Ann (Carl Winkworth), of Tillsonburg; Ron (Diane) Lockstein, of Tillsonburg. Averil was a proud and caring grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother. She was also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Averil was predeceased by her parents Asa and Irene (McClung) Nunn, her son Dwayne, her daughter-in-law Pat, her dearly missed grandson Daniel and by all of her siblings.
In keeping with Averil’s wishes, a private family funeral service will be held on Monday, September 9th, 2024, in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes Chapel, Tillsonburg, by Pastor Bill Wiebe, of Port Rowan Community Church. Interment follows in Jackson Cemetery. Everyone who knew Averil is invited to share favourite memories and photos, leave letters of support and condolence, or send flowers via Averil’s online tribute page at www.verhoevefuneralhomes.com, or contribute memorial donations (by cheque) to the “Residents Council” (memo line: Caressant Care Courtland Resident Activities Fund) by contacting the Maurice J.
