It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Peter Chabot, who passed away at home in Strathmore, Alberta, Canada, on August 27, 2024, at the age of 76.
Donald was born on September 10, 1947, in Estevan, Saskatchewan. Don is survived by his daughter, Sandra Clark (Darrell), and his life partner, Candy Tashlikowich. Candy brought into his life her grown children, Chad Tashlikowich (Rachel), Tanya Molnar (Mike), and Shanna Vermeeren (Maarten), along with her adored and adoring grandchildren Jaden, Ryann, Brody (Wendi Tashlikowich), Brant, Cheldynn, Sydnie, Julia, and Halle. Don is also survived by his siblings, Steve Chabot (Denise), Elaine Dedora, Darlene Chuka (Randy), and Paul Chabot along with many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents, George and Margaret Chabot and sister Helen. Don was a proud member of local 725, the iron workers union and was known for his dependability and his unbeatable work ethic. He carried that work ethic with him throughout his whole life, always lending a hand to anyone who needed it. Don and Candy have spent the past 21 years playing in the sun. He loved golf and lawn bowling when in Arizona but also loved to travel and see the world. He loved to strum his guitar and sing old country songs.
He was the life of every party, had a corny sense of humour and a smile that lit up the room…His unsinkable spirit was a great example of strength under fire, which will long inspire all who knew him!
Don’s life was enriched by a multitude of dear friends who offered him endless love and support, particularly during his most recent challenge. Their friendship and compassion were deeply appreciated.
Don celebrated his life with a couple hundred friends and family members on July 22, 2023. If all the people he loved were getting together, he didn’t want to miss the party!
The family will have a farewell graveside service, but Don’s final resting place will live forever in all of our hearts.
