March 10, 1949 – July 18, 2024
It is with deep sadness and grief in our hearts that we share the passing of Randolph ‘Randy’ Cormier. Randy passed away quietly in his home in Nanaimo, B.C. with his wife by his side.
Randy was born in Rossland, B.C. to Stanley Cormier and Gayle Marsden. He leaves behind his loving wife of 37 years, Cynthia, children Asia (Steve) Adam (Christie), and grandson Charlie; his siblings Carol (Arnie), Melody (Gavin), Violet (Will), and Albert; numerous nephews and nieces, and extended family Helen, Eileen, Edmond (Carissa), and Violet of Castlegar, B.C. He was predeceased by his parents and brother Jim.
A hardworking, loving and loyal husband and family man, Randy dedicated his life to his wife and children working tirelessly to provide for his family.
Randy was a retired Electrical Inspector for the BC Safety Authority, a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1999, and was a life-long musician. He was a volunteer band instructor with the Nanaimo Navy League Cadets, a student tutor at the Vancouver Island University, and was a founding member of the Friends of Nanaimo Jazz Society.
After retiring from public service and a new found freedom, Randy travelled the world with his wife while earning two undergraduate degrees at the Vancouver Island University. Before he passed away, Randy was pursuing a master’s degree, an achievement he was extremely proud of and a testament to his continuing search for knowledge.
Forever in our hearts, rest in peace in the loving embrace of our Lord and Saviour. We will love and miss you always and all the corny “dad” jokes.
Thank you to all the doctors, ICU nurses and case workers at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, B.C. Ambulance Service, Nanaimo Fire Department, Lantzville Medical Clinic and staff who assisted Randy during his medical emergency.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday September 18, 2024, at the St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Nanaimo. In lieu of flowers, please give generously to the St. Peter’s Church building repair fund.
