Roy began his journey to Canada in his mother’s belly when his Russian Jewish parents escaped from Russia, with his young brother Ed in 1929. His journey ended peacefully in his home as he wished, taking with him the great love of his family; his beloved wife June, their children Nadia and Matt, his five children from his first marriage – Jan, Lisa, Greg, Paul and Katy, their partners and 13 grandchildren.
Central to Roy’s life was his love of Vancouver, his Junie, his practice as a psychiatrist, his many adventures in the mountains with his best friend Bren Moss, his hikes with his children, as well as walks and talks with his grandchildren, picking huckleberries along the trails.
In the words of his grandchild: ‘Thank you for giving all of us such great memories, Saba (Grandpa) Roy.’
Roy will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed.
A family celebration of his life was shared with Roy on July 14, 2024.
