Kenneth John Tower
1960-2024
Kenneth John Tower, 63, of Germantown passed away
peacefully on August 7th, 2024 at the Albert House Hospice with his
family by his side.
Kenny was born in Albert, NB, on December 10th,
1960, the son of the late Wallace and Gladys (Hawkes)
Tower.
Kenny worked in the woods most of his life,
coming home smelling like spruce trees and gasoline, a fond memory for
his children. He then went to work for New Brunswick Limestone in the
quarry, and later worked at Ponderosa Pines Campground, looking after
maintenance, which he really enjoyed. He last mowed the grounds for
the Grey’s Island Cemetery, taking great pride in his work until his
health deteriorated. Wherever Kenny went, he made friends and had
great times laughing and sharing stories. He built lasting and
meaningful relationships with many in his community over the
years.
Kenny was a true Albert County boy who enjoyed
nature and four wheeling, getting out as often as possible with the
regular bunch. He knew the trails of Albert County like the back of
his hand. He was a regular of the coffee club at the Crooked Creek
Convenience store just to see what was going on and to catch up on all
the community gossip or participate in a healthy debate. (And yes, he
was always right). He was also an avid hunter, making many trips to
Glassville to hunt with Mike, his son-in-law. He was fortunate enough
and so proud to get one last moose with his niece, Jodi, last fall. He
had a special place in his heart for animals, especially his cat,
Molly. He enjoyed playing poker and in the last few years religiously
played TV Bingo on Tuesday nights. Even while in hospice, he never
missed a Tuesday night playing Bingo with his family…and
Benny. Kenny was a jokester who would spend his Christmases putting up
Christmas lights in competition with his neighbor Gary, continuing a
tradition started by his late brother, Shabby. He even went as far as
stealing a reindeer to put on his own
lawn.
Kenny loved life and his main priority was his
family. He was a dedicated husband and father. He was so proud of his
children and who they have become, as well as the choices of partners
in their lives. He would do anything for his kids and was a devoted
and dependable friend. When his grandchildren came along, they were
the apple of his eye. Kenny was not the type to say «I Love
You» or get overly sappy, but his love was always shown through
his actions. He was an expert in the art of tough
love.
He would want you to have a laugh as you
reminisce of the fun times and the twinkle in his eye when he was up
to something.
While he was sick in hospice, he arranged for his
children to help him surprise his wife, Kathy, with an anniversary
party to let her know how much the last 38 years meant to
him–and surprised she was! There was an incredible turn out
and a surprise congratulations from Randy Travis, which was the first
concert Kathy and Kenny attended as a married
couple.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Kathy
Tower; his son, Patrick Tower (Ximena) of California and daughter,
Megan McIntosh (Mike) of Glassville; his precious grandsons, Silas and
Daxton; brothers, Jeff (his partner in crime) of Germantown, Gerry
(Joanne) of Riverview, David of Riverside-Albert and Gene (Wendy) of
Moncton; sisters, Sandy of Moncton, Jackie of Riverside-Albert. He
will also be missed by all his In-laws. Mother-in-law, Sheila
Douthright; Sisters-in-law, Ruth and Heather; Brother-in-law and close
friend, Kevin, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his
parents, he was predeceased by his infant sister, Kelly Dawn and
brother, Travis, as well as his brother-in-law,
Robert.
Honoring Kenny’s own wishes there will be no
visitation. The family will be having a Celebration of Life at the
Alma Activity Center on Sunday, August 11th, 2024 at 2:00pm, as an
opportunity to honor Kenny and share stories and fond memories. In
true Kenny fashion, camo or plaid attire is
appropriate.
The family would like to take this opportunity to
extend their gratitude for the extraordinary care and compassion
provided to Kenny and his family during his final days at the Albert
House Hospice. The kindness and professionalism of the staff and
volunteers provided comfort during an incredibly difficult time. The
respect and dignity shown to Kenny is deeply appreciated, and the
difference you made in his life will always be
remembered.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Albert House
Hospice would be greatly appreciated by his
family.
Arrangements are in the care of the Albert County
