Phyllis Ada Kirkland
November 13th, 1935 – August 2nd, 2024
With hearts full of both joy and sadness, we share that our beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully, at the age of 88, on August 2nd,, 2024 at The United Mennonite Home in Vineland, Ontario. This day also marked the milestone of Phyllis and Hugh’s 66th wedding anniversary.
Phyllis was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many. Phyllis is survived by her loving husband, Hugh Kirkland, and her two children, John Kirkland (Anne) and Shelley Tallman (Tim). She was the loving grandmother of Kristin Dimmick (David), Evan Kirkland (Laura), Lindsay Cramp (Evan), Andy Tallman (Rachel), Mitchell Tallman and the cherished great grandmother of Hunter, Annabelle, Kathryn, Jolie, Evalyn, Gwendolyn and Taryn. She is also survived by two of her seven siblings, sister Majorie Cochrane and brother Morgan Petch.
Phyllis’s life would be best known for her love for God and her desire that others would also have a relationship with Him. She displayed God’s love through her acts of caring and service to others. A kind and compassionate woman, she was known by all for her spirit of hospitality. Her door was always open, and she welcomed many into her home whether for a cup of coffee or a meal but always a listening ear.
Phyllis was always one to laugh and enjoy life. She loved spending time with us, her family, and we cherish many times spent together. Her last years were spent being cared for and loved by the devoted staff at the United Mennonite Home. Special thanks to Dr. James Woodland for his exceptional care and compassion in her final days.
We invite you to join us in a celebration of her life on Friday August 9th, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at The Tallman Funeral Home in Vineland, Ontario. Fellowship and luncheon to follow at the Fireside Room.
