Chuck was born on October 9th, 1939 in Vernon, B.C., moving to Victoria when he was 2 years old, spending the rest of his youth there.
Chuck then pursued post secondary education both at UVIC and UBC, acquiring his Masters in Statistics and Administration. He taught briefly in Pemberton, taking a year leave to become a tour guide in Italy for the armed forces.
Returning to Pemberton, he met his future wife, Wendy, whom he married 2 years later. Chuck’s sons were both born while residing in Pemberton.
Chuck’s early career included being a high school teacher, school vice principal in Vanderhoof and principal in Pemberton. His sense of adventure took him and his young family to Ottawa for 8 years, accepting the position of Chief of the Elementary-Secondary Section at Statistics Canada.
Moving back to B.C., he became the Director of Planning for the Surrey School Board for 12 years before establishing his own company. His son Jason partnered with him shortly thereafter, creating computer planning software for school districts across Canada. Carson joined the company 5 years later.
Chuck lived life to the fullest, enjoying many passions: his family and friends, fishing, boating, golfing, hiking, gardening, dancing and travelling the world. He also enjoyed life at the cabin the family built together.
Although Alzheimer’s disease in later years robbed Chuck of his independence, it never took away his love for his family and friends, nor his kindness and generosity of spirit.
Chuck leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Wendy, of 59 years, his two sons, Jason (wife Melanie), Carson, and his sister Eileen Curteis. He will be missed but always remembered for his love of life, his contagious sense of humor, his smile, as well as his dynamic and outgoing personality.
Chuck’s service will be at 1:30pm on FRIDAY, AUGUST 16TH, 2024 at the Evangelist Chapel at the Gardens of Gethsemani Cemetery, located at 15694 32nd Avenue in Surrey, followed by a reception at Hazelmere Golf and Tennis Club, 18150 8th Avenue, Surrey.
